I'm always on the lookout for new ideas to do with the boys. Summer break is now here for us! I thought each week I would share a craft or fun activity that would be great for the boys in your life (fine for girls too).
Last summer I did this for Hudson but on a much smaller scale here. Then I saw this on Pinterest and knew I had to do it on a much bigger scale! It's a great activity on a hot day!

Supplies:
-a big tupperware
-water
-little toys to freeze
-a small hammer or anything you think would be safe for your child to break the ice
Directions: (This is something you want to plan out the day before.)
1. Fill the tupperware with about 25% of water. Drop in a few toys. Freeze for a couple of hours.
2. Remove from freezer and add about another 25% of water. Drop toys in different areas. Return to freezer.
3. Repeat until full.
4. Remove the ice block by running hot water over the tupperware (be careful!) or let it sit outside for a few minutes. Take it outside and put it on the floor or a table. Let your little boys discover what's hiding in the ice!
Both boys really liked this! Hudson got to smash stuff (he was actually very careful with the little hammer so no worries) and Parker liked throwing and licking the ice. Go figure. :)

*you can find child size gardening gloves at Target that might help from making his hands too cold.

ReplyDeleteVery awesome idea!! I want to know where you got the little hammer from? It looks like a multi-tool deal, too.
I love this series!
